Job summary

Glick Fire Equipment Company is seeking a Fabrication Technician to join our PA-based team, operating Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm. You’ll fabricate/install components on fire apparatus and EMS vehicles, measure and fit parts to exact specs, and create custom mounting solutions while upholding safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years welding experience, a PA driver’s license (CDL with air brake/tanker preferred), and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 3–5 years welding experience strongly preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license; PA CDL with air brake & tanker preferred.
• Able to lift up to 100 lbs and bend at the knees.
• Self-starter with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install components on fire apparatus, ambulances, and emergency service vehicles.
• Measure, draw and fit equipment to exact specifications.
• Create custom mounts, brackets and shelving for optimal use of compartments.
• Install tool mounts, fixed shelves, roll-out boards and racks.
• Remove apparatus parts and electrical equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose minor 12V/120V electrical issues and plumbing/mechanical problems.
• Disassemble damaged parts for paint/body work and reassemble after.
• Maintain fabrication equipment and manage supplies/inventory.
• Follow safety procedures and wear proper safety gear.
• Greet customers promptly and with respect in person or on the phone.

Glick Fire Equipment Company, Inc. is a family-owned-and-operated business that employs more than 100 people throughout Pennsylvania. We offer high quality products and service for Fire & EMS companies. The Fabrication Technician will work Monday – Friday; 7:30am – 4:00pm, alongside other customer service employees to achieve optimum efficiency and excellent customer service, in keeping with the values and vision of Glick Fire Equipment.

• Fabricate and install components on fire apparatus, ambulances, and emergency service vehicles
• Measure, draw and fit equipment to proper and exact specifications
• Create custom mounts, brackets and shelving for optimal use of compartmentation
• Execute customer tool mountings, fixed shelves, roll out tool boards, swing out tool boards and roll out-tilt down shelves, custom tray bins, toolboxes, brackets, straps and racks
• Removal of apparatus parts and equipment, including electrical equipment
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair minor electrical wiring – 12V and 120V
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair minor plumbing & mechanical issues
• Disassemble damaged and undamaged parts in preparation of paint, body work, or fabrication, and reassemble after work is completed
• Assist with maintaining fabrication equipment and ensure proper care, storage & inventory of supplies or tools
• Ability to follow proper safety procedures and wear appropriate safety equipment
• Ensure customers are greeted promptly and with respect, either in person or on the phone
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is required; a Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (PA CDL) with air brake & tanker endorsement is preferred
• A minimum of 3 - 5 yrs welding exp. strongly preferred
• Provide basic hand tools
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and bend at the knees
• Must be a self-starter and have a high level of personal drive for success
