Austin Sensing Company is hiring a fabrication technician to build parts and assemblies for our radar, acoustic, and RF sensors. You’ll work with engineering and manufacturing to turn designs into hardware for prototypes and production.
This hands-on role requires careful workmanship, reading engineering drawings, operating shop equipment, and troubleshooting problems as designs change.
You’ll maintain tools and ensure safety, quality, and consistency across builds.
Building the future of sensing is extremely hard work. We move fast, tackle difficult technical problems, and expect a lot from one another. We look for self-starters who take ownership and deliver. If you are looking for a traditional 9-to-5, this is not the place for you.
But if you want to build advanced sensing systems in Austin, strengthen U.S. military capabilities, protect American warfighters, support public safety and aerial firefighting, and work alongside operators in the field, we want to hear from you.
We design and manufacture vertically integrated sensing systems for defense, public safety, and critical infrastructure. Our products are deployed in demanding environments where failure is not an option. Built in America and headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Austin Sensing Company builds radar, acoustic, and RF sensors for defense, public safety, critical infrastructure, and autonomous systems. We design and manufacture our hardware in Austin, Texas, with a focus on making high-performance sensing reliable, affordable, and widely available.
We’re hiring a Fabrication Technician to build the parts, fixtures, and assemblies behind our sensing systems. You’ll work directly with engineering and manufacturing to turn designs into hardware, supporting prototypes, test equipment, and production builds.
This is a hands‑on shop role. You’ll fabricate components, assemble hardware, inspect your work, and help improve our manufacturing methods. We’re looking for someone who works carefully, understands shop equipment, and can solve practical problems as designs change.
Fabricate brackets, enclosures, mounts, fixtures, and other mechanical components from engineering drawings and specifications.
Set up and operate mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and other shop equipment appropriate to your training.
Cut, drill, tap, deburr, and finish parts for prototypes and production assemblies.
Assemble mechanical hardware, checking fit, alignment, and fastening against drawings and build instructions.
Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Work with engineers to resolve fit issues and recommend changes that make parts easier to manufacture and assemble.
Build and modify jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve consistency and reduce build time.
Document fabrication steps, inspection results, and build issues so successful work can be repeated.
Maintain tools and equipment and keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.
Support prototype builds, repairs, and production needs as priorities change.
Experience in fabrication, machining, mechanical assembly, or a similar hands‑on role.
The ability to read engineering drawings and work to specified dimensions and tolerances.
Experience using shop equipment, hand tools, and precision measurement tools.
A working understanding of materials, fasteners, and common fabrication methods.
Careful workmanship and the ability to identify defects before parts move into assembly.
The ability to troubleshoot fabrication and assembly problems and communicate them clearly to engineers.
Consistent attention to shop safety and proper equipment use.
Comfort working on both one‑off prototypes and repeat production builds.
Experience operating or programming CNC equipment.
Experience with sheet metal fabrication, welding, or additive manufacturing.
Familiarity with CAD software and translating models into fabrication steps.
Experience building jigs, fixtures, or production tooling.
Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, or industrial hardware.
