Job summary

Jobot is hiring a Fabrication Shop Foreman in Midland, TX to lead daily production on pressure vessel fabrication. You will organize work, ensure proper materials and drawings are on hand, and supervise fit-up, assembly and welding to meet quality standards.

The role requires a high school diploma and 5+ years in vessel fabrication, with 2+ years in a lead role, plus strong safety leadership and the ability to read fabrication drawings. On-site work with competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five+ years of pressure vessel fabrication experience, with at least two years in a lead role.
• Proven track record supervising vessel fit-up, assembly and welding.
• Able to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, BOMs and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Organize and assign each day’s work based on orders, crew skills, material availability and priorities.
• Confirm all required drawings, materials, tickets and CNC files are on hand before work begins; raise issues promptly.
• Supervise vessel fit-up, shell and head assembly, nozzle orientation, internals and supports; verify dimensions against drawings.
• Ensure welders are qualified and work to approved welding procedures; coordinate with Quality on qualifications.
• Uphold safety requirements, lead crew safety meetings, maintain PPE, stop work if unsafe, report incidents.
• Keep work areas clean and safe; inspect tools and equipment, report defects, coordinate maintenance.
• Prepare work for inspection and coordinate with Quality for hold points and repairs.
• Preserve material identification and traceability; work with Materials on staging and transfers.

Responsibilities

• Organize and assign each day’s work based on work orders, crew skill sets, material availability, and the production priorities set by the Production Manager. Share daily targets with the crew and track progress throughout the shift.


• Before work begins, confirm that approved drawing packets, materials, pick tickets, weld maps, and any required CNC files are on hand. Raise incomplete releases, material shortages, and drawing questions without delay.


• Supervise vessel fit-up, shell and head assembly, nozzle orientation, internals, and supports, and verify dimensions against approved drawings. Prevent unapproved changes and route technical questions to Engineering and Quality.


• Make sure assigned welders are properly qualified and work to approved welding procedure specifications (WPS). Work with Quality to address qualification and training needs.


• Uphold all safety requirements, lead crew safety meetings, keep PPE stocked, and stop work whenever conditions are unsafe. Report incidents and near misses right away.


• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safely accessible. Inspect tools, fabrication equipment, and lifting gear within your area of responsibility, report any defects, and coordinate needed maintenance.


• Prepare work for inspection and make sure all required hold points are honored. Coordinate with Quality so that repairs are completed and accepted before work moves to the next operation.


• Preserve material identification and traceability throughout fabrication. Work with Material Management on staging, shortages, transfers, and returning unused material.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent relevant work experience.


• Five or more years of pressure vessel fabrication experience, with at least two years as a lead or supervisor.


• Proven track record supervising vessel fit-up, assembly, and welding in a production setting.


• Able to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, bills of material, and work instructions.


• Working knowledge of applicable API and ASME fabrication requirements, approved welding procedures, inspection hold points, and material traceability.
