• Hands-on experience with welding, fitting, fabrication equipment, and shop operations.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings, fabrication details, and specifications.
• Familiarity with AWS welding codes and industry fabrication standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily fabrication activities including cutting, fitting, welding, drilling, and finishing of structural steel components.
• Plan, prioritize, and assign work to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, specifications, and welding symbols.
• Monitor workflow and address issues impacting quality, safety, productivity, or schedule.
• Ensure fabricated materials and outbound loads comply with applicable weight and dimensional requirements.
• Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and workmanship standards.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and production briefings.
• Assist with employee training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Coordinate closely with project management, purchasing, and shipping teams.
• Communicate production status, labor requirements, material shortages, and operational concerns to management.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Our client, a well-established structural steel fabrication company in the Metro Detroit area, is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to oversee daily fabrication operations. This individual will be responsible for leading shop personnel, coordinating production activities, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel fabrication, hands-on shop experience, and proven leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A CDL and experience operating flatbed equipment
  
• AWS Welding Supervisor and/or Welding Inspector certification
  
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  
• Forklift and/or overhead crane certifications
