Job summary

Hyundai Power Transformers USA, Inc. is seeking a Fabrication Quality Inspector in Montgomery, AL to ensure conformance to drawings and specifications.

You will inspect materials and welds, document results, and support corrective actions in a fast-paced shop environment. The role requires 1–3 years of fabrication or welding inspection experience, reading drawings, and proficiency with measuring tools and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications and drawings.
• Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
• Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
• Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend corrective actions.
• Notify supervisors of production problems and assist in correcting these problems.
• Measure dimensions of products using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Check arriving materials to ensure that they match purchase orders and submit discrepancy reports.
• Compute defect percentages or averages and prepare reports of inspection or test findings.
• Monitor welder performance and conduct visual inspections of welds and repairs per company procedures and international codes of practice.
• Conduct fit up and dimension inspections per ITP and provide technical guidance for welding sequence and distortion control.
• Check surface condition and paint procedure.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications and drawings.
• Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
• Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
• Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
• Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
• Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Check arriving materials to ensure that they match purchase orders and submit discrepancy reports when problems are found.
• Compute defect percentages or averages, using formulas and calculators, and prepare reports of inspection or test findings.
• To monitor Welder performance and conduct visual inspections of welds and repairs of welds in accordance with Company procedures and international codes of practice.
• To conduct fit up and dimension inspections as per Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), and to provide technical guidance for welding sequence and distortion control.
• To check and inspect surface condition and paint procedure.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:

• High school Diploma.
• 1-3 years inspecting experience in fabrication shop or welding shops.
• Experience in using measuring equipment and instrument.
• Ability to read and interpret work specification and drawings
• Strong interpersonal skills for building excellent team relationships.
• Knowledge of computers, including MS Office.
• Knowledge of welding procedures and welding visual inspection.
