Job summary

ITT Inc. in Santa Clarita, CA, is seeking a Fabrication Manager – Machine Shop to lead a 60+ CNC machine operation on a 200,000‑square‑foot floor.

You will drive performance, productivity, and employee engagement by evaluating processes and implementing improvements. Responsibilities include planning production schedules, aligning resources, monitoring KPI targets for quality, on‑time delivery, and safety, and applying Lean and Six Sigma to continuous flow and line balancing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in operations or engineering.
• 7+ years of manufacturing operations experience with 2+ years supervisory responsibility.
• Knowledge of CNC machining and CNC programming.
• Ability to coach and motivate employees.
• Experience designing continuous flow lines and line balancing using Lean principles.

Position Summary

The Fabrication Manager – Machine Shop leads a machine shop of over 60 CNC machines located on a 200,000‑square‑foot production floor. The role drives performance, efficiency, and employee satisfaction by evaluating organizational processes and implementing improvements that enhance work quality and productivity.

Essential Responsibilities

Operations

• Lead fabrication operations to consistently meet production and budgetary goals.
• Oversee and monitor operations to ensure production schedules and quality standards are maintained.
• Determine equipment availability and capabilities to efficiently schedule, coordinate, and move fabrication orders through the facility.
• Build production schedules and estimate delivery times to meet operational targets.
• Assess machine resources to maintain continuous production and reduce downtime.
• Lead the team to meet performance standards (KPI’s) such as quality, on‑time delivery, cost, and safety.
• Generate production Capacity Requirement Planning (CRP) and resource plans that include labor, equipment, fixtures, tools, and sub‑materials.

Financial

• Own financial performance—drive earned hours, improve productivity per employee, and maximize machine capacity utilization.
• Identify potential problems and friction points, and work to find solutions that maximize efficiency and revenue.

Leadership

• Encourage, support, and guide production staff.
• Inspire and motivate employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives.
• Produce a performance management process that aligns with overall business strategies and goals.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives on production flow and resource alignment, applying LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Operations, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years manufacturing operations experience, including 2+ years demonstrating supervisory responsibility.
• Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and materials used in CNC machining and CNC programming.
• Ability to coach and motivate employees.
• Experience designing and implementing continuous flow lines, line balancing, and other production optimization techniques, including Lean principles.

Salary ranges from $136,500 to $203,900 annually, based on experience, qualifications, location, and market considerations.
