Job summary

Generac Power Systems, Inc. is expanding its Commercial & Industrial Fabrication Center of Excellence and seeking a skilled Buyer II - Fabrication to procure direct materials and manage supplier performance.

You will collaborate with Production Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Quality to ensure on-time delivery, optimize VMI programs, and drive cost reductions across fabrication projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations management, engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of direct material procurement experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Procure direct materials to support fabrication and manufacturing operations.
• Manage purchase orders, supplier schedules, and MRP-generated requirements.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and resolve material shortages or supply disruptions.
• Collaborate with Production Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Quality to support production requirements.
• Manage and optimize Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and visual inventory replenishment programs.
• Coordinate and oversee outside vended services such as painting, plating, heat treating, machining, fabrication, and testing services.
• Analyze inventory, supplier performance, demand trends, and lead times to drive continuous improvement.
• Support supplier sourcing, negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, and performance management.
• Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics, including OTD, OTIF, inventory health, and lead-time performance.
