Summary

The department Team Lead has accountability to meet daily and weekly production goals while also meeting quality & safety objectives. The department Team Lead actively works in production and manufacturing for assigned department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Review and understand production plans, goals, and requirements.
  2. Delegate work to employees in assigned department in accordance with their experience and ability.
  3. Ensure that employees are properly trained to safely set-up and operate equipment they are assigned to operate.
  4. After each major project, review and/or communicate team members’ work performance with Production Supervisor relative to quantity and quality.
  5. Communicate all department issues through Build-Issue-Reports after verifying and validating issues reported by team members.
  6. Train new personnel to set-up and operate department equipment as needed.
  7. Confer or correspond with Production Supervisor and/or other departments to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages or nonconformance to specifications.
  8. Ensure that all department personnel practice safe work habits including wearing of safety glasses, work gloves, respirators, etc., as required.
  9. Promptly notify supervisory staff or HR on all important personnel matters.
  10. Other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, angles, and volume. Knowledge of basic concepts of geometry.
  2. Effectively able to present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.
  3. Ability to apply a commonsense approach and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral and written form.
  4. Ability to train and encourage all members of the assigned department to reach goals and complete work on schedule.

Education and Experience

  1. Must have a High School Degree or GED equivalent.
  2. 3+ years of related experience and/or training required.
  3. 2 year certificate from technical school or journeyman program preferred.
  4. Prior experience leading projects and teams preferred.
