Job summary

Railcraft USA is seeking a Fabrication-Cutter in its Production department. This full-time role focuses on delivering quality cut orders for welders, reading orders and blueprints, and preparing materials for fabrication.

The candidate should be reliable, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and willing to work overtime as needed. Responsibilities include operating cutting machinery, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring accurate measurements and stock organization.

Responsibilities

• Receive orders from Shop Supervisor or Cutting Lead.
• Read and understand orders, blueprints, sketches or specifications and perform weld prep if needed.
• Obtain and transfer stock to machines manually.
• Measure and mark dimensions on material extrusions.
• Drill holes for screws, bolts and rivets.
• Set up and operate fabrication and cutting machines; ensure equipment is in good order.
• Cut and prepare product according to order.
• Inform Lead Hand of errors and obtain approval to change orders.
• Keep material organized with proper stock identification.
• Wear safety gear at all times and maintain a safe workspace.
• Contribute to team effort with related duties as needed.

Position Title: Fabrication-Cutter

ROLE OVERVIEW

With welders in mind as their "customer", this role is responsible for providing quality cut orders for welders to piece together products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive orders from Shop Supervisor or Cutting Lead
• Read and understand both order (blueprints, sketches or product specifications) and drawings before cutting; conduct weld preparation if necessary.
• Obtains and transfers stock to machine, manually
• Measures and marks dimensions and reference lines on material extrusions.
• Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts and rivets
• Sets up and operates fabrication, cutting machines, ensuring breaks, rolls, shears, flame cutter and drill presses are in working order.
• Cut and prepare product according to order.
• Inform Lead Hand of errors; with approval form Lead, see Order Entry to confirm error (who will change order if applicable)
• Keep material organized and proper identification of stock
• Wear appropriate safety gear at all times (e.g. safety glasses, mask, earplugs, steel-toe footwear, etc.)
• Maintains a safe and clean work space without risk to health.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related or delegated duties as needed.

Accuracy of measurement on all work to 1/6" of an inch or .05 Degrees.
