Job summary

Xanadu is seeking a Photonics AI Engineer to own fabrication-aware design in a fast-paced, wafer-scale environment at Xanadu’s Santa Clara site. You will translate process constraints into design language, calibrate models with wafer data, and lead AI-driven tooling for yield and defect analysis.

The role emphasizes Python, design-for-manufacture, and collaboration with fabrication teams, with base salary ranging from 160,000 to 210,000 USD and equity eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a physics/materials/Electrical engineering field.
• Experience with fabrication-aware design and tapeouts.
• Familiar with AI tooling and agentic pipelines.
• Strong Python skills for data pipelines and tooling.
• Proven ability to analyze wafer-scale data and yield.
• Excellent cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Bridge fabrication and design through process-language translation.
• Own fabrication-aware layer and design rules based on process capability.
• Calibrate process models using wafer data and lithography effects.
• Define tolerances, yields, and robustness against variations.
• Contribute to DOE tests and fabrication experiments.
• Develop AI tooling to turn inline metrology and yield data into design changes.
• Lead failure analysis distinguishing design vs process issues.
