ThermTech - Heat Treating Specialists in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Fabrication Assistant. The role supports the fabrication department by creating parts, fixtures, and components from blueprints and drawings.

You will operate equipment, use hand tools, and help improve processes for efficiency and quality. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1+ year experience in flux core welding/fabrication, and ability to read blueprints.

Responsabilités

• Operate all fabrication department equipment.
• Fabricate custom parts and fixtures.

• Set up and operate shear, press brake, plasma torch, and oxy-fuel torch.

Position Hours: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 6:00AM-2:30PM

Position Wage: $21.00 - $25.00/hr

Job Description:

The Fabrication Assistant plays an important role in ensuring the fabrication department issuccessful in fixing and creating various department fixtures, components, & parts. Responsibilitiesinclude complete internal and external jobs, create custom parts for various ThermTechdepartments, and improve company functions by recognizing inefficient or ineffective fixtures,components, & parts and recommending changes to improve upon weak points.

• Operate all equipment within the fabrication department
• Fabricate custom made parts
• Design custom blueprints and drawings
• Use existing drawings/blueprints as a guide to make fixtures, components & parts.
• Operate various hand tools
• Set up & operate shear & press brake, hand & machine plasma torch, & oyx-fuel torch with minimum assistance
• Sharpen drill bits & tools
• Assist various departments with projects as needed
• Ensure plant organization and cleanliness

Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of but are not limited to the following:

• Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in a non-climate controlled industrial environment
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
• Capable of lifting and carrying at least 25-pound objects throughout shift
• Must be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
• Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
• Must demonstrate the ability to perform fundamental mathematical skills and concepts (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, and the basics of algebra and geometry).
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

• Acquire/maintain forklift certification

Experience: 1+ years of experience of flux core welding/fabrication

Hard Skills:

• Efficiently & safely operate drill presses, band saws, sawzalls, rollers, brakes, torches, plasma cutter & welders
• Proficient physical shape- able to lift 25 lbs. regularly
• Efficiently & safely operate grinders, sanders, tape measures, squares & drills/taps
• Read and design blueprints
• Basic computer skills
