The role involves keeping equipment in top condition, assisting with material preparation, and ensuring a clean, safe workspace for a collaborative team. Based in Lansing, MI, this full-time position includes flexible hours to accommodate production needs and travel between Lansing locations as required.

Qualifications

  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize standard hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on CNC and manual machines, shears, air compressors, forklifts, and hydraulic presses.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and organize inventory and raw materials.
  • Verify and maintain oil and coolant levels on all machines.
  • Clean machines and organize consumables and supply cabinets.
  • Pre-cut materials according to designs.
  • Dress and maintain grinder tools.
  • Maintain overall shop organization and safety practices.

What you can expect to work on…

The Shop Assistant is responsible for the preventative maintenance, overall shop cleanliness, and inventory / ordering of raw materials. This position will also ensure accuracy of project materials and pre‑cut in accordance with designs.

  • Maintains inventory and ordering of raw materials and sheet metal
  • Verifies and maintains oil and coolant levels on all machines
  • Cleans automated and manual machines
  • Organizes and assembles consumables
  • Maintains inventory and supply cabinets
  • Performs preventative maintenance of CNC machines, manual machines, shears, air compressors, forklifts, and hydraulic presses
  • Dresses and maintains grinders
  • Pre‑cuts materials in accordance with designs
  • Maintains overall cleanliness of shops

Other things to know…
  • Full‑time position
  • Niowave’s standard operating hours are Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
  • This position will have regular working hours Monday – Friday with an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirements
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
