Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Machine Operator for Lancaster area operations. This full-time role supports training across all machine positions and shifts, aiming to uphold safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced production plant.

Responsibilities include documenting training, following SOPs, and assisting in process improvements while maintaining a safe, high-morale environment. Authorization to work in the U.S. and ability to work 2nd/3rd shift are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2–3 years of experience as a machine operator.
• Able to sit, stoop, climb, and bend.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, facilitate and implement a training program for all machine positions on all shifts.
• Initiate programs to maintain quality, efficiencies and production levels at high standards.
• Assist in planning methods, machinery, safety programs and standards.
• Maintain a safe, productive working environment with high morale.
• Keep Production Manager informed of issues affecting operations.
• Be available to operate machines on all shifts when needed.
• Document machine training steps (setup, operation, loading, production maintenance).
• Follow all SOPs in production for Safety, Quality and processes.
• Assist crews to achieve high-quality products with efficient processes.
• Communicate findings to supervisor/manager.
• Comply with all company policies; other duties as assigned.

Principle Accountabilities

• Responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and implementing a training program for all the machine positions on all shifts.
• Initiate programs to set and maintain quality, efficiencies and production levels to high standards within the industry and communicate standards to staff.
• Make recommendations and assist in planning, methods and machinery, safety programs and standards.
• Maintain excellent working conditions, a safe work environment, and high morale within the plant.
• Keep Production Manager informed regarding problems or situations that may affect the overall production operation of the plant.
• Be available to operate the machines when needed on all shifts.
• Document machine training such as setup, operation, assisting, Load forming and production maintenance process.
• Follow all SOP's in production for Safety, Quality and manufacturing process.
• Assist crews to achieve the highest quality product with most efficient process.
• Communicate all findings to your supervisor and/or manager.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• 2 -3 years’ work experience as a Machine Operator.
• Be passionate about maintaining a safe work environment
• Ability to sit, stoop climb and bend.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to work on 2nd and 3rd Shift.

Preferred Qualifications

• Corrugated industry experience.

Compensation And Benefits

• Starting salary for position: $28.34 per hour.
• Bonus: Annual – Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
• Paid Vacation: 2 weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
• Paid Holidays.
• Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
