Your Role at Baxter

Responsible for the proper performance and quality of a wide range of metal fabrication operations in the department. Set‑up and operate a variety of machines and equipment. Utilize people, machines, methods and materials to achieve quality, cost, delivery and safety objectives. Fill in for absences when necessary.

Your Team

You will be part of a hands‑on manufacturing team responsible for metal fabrication operations, working closely with supervisors, operators and support functions to ensure production goals are met. The team focuses on maintaining quality, efficiency and safety while supporting daily production needs.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Perform a wide range of metal fabrication operations, set‑up and operate various machines and equipment, and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
  • Work from schedules and verbal and written instructions to plan work in proper sequence and train and assist operators to perform their work in the proper and prescribed manner.
  • Assign work to individual employees, follow up to ensure completion of assigned tasks, re‑assign personnel as workload varies with changing conditions.
  • Instruct and train employees in job procedures, sequence of operations and other phases of work.
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining the flow of work, checking various operations and helping to solve difficulties, including performance of production work, scheduling assistance and programming adjustments.
  • Ensure all necessary materials are on hand and equipment is in order, including scheduling, preparing and moving of material, rework as required and moving stock and material.
  • Maintain quality and quantity of work: participate in team activities and problem solving sessions, communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate team member, follow processes and procedures, document and chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback and production scheduling, and assist other team members to ensure a quality product and smooth flow.
  • Evaluate defective material, faulty operations, questionable conditions and potential work stoppages; advise and recommend alternatives to appropriate person; confer with supervisor as to various quality requirements.
  • Ensure work area and equipment are maintained clean, orderly and safe; follow safety regulations; may be required to move stock and material.
  • Operate the department and handle routine matters in the supervisor’s absence.

Compensation

Salary pay rate $25.09, plus shift differential for off shifts. The pay rate is based on factors including relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line and geographic location.
