Job summary

Peraton in Elgin, IL, seeks a Network Installer to support the FAA's BNATCS program, maintaining and enhancing the network infrastructure behind mission-critical aviation systems. You will ensure uptime, performance, and security across IP networks that support air traffic operations. This role requires 100% local travel to FAA facilities in the region.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
Bachelor's degree or higher with 8+ years of experience in networking.
Proven experience managing and supporting enterprise network environments.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols.
Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.
Familiarity with SD-WAN, fiber optics, and wireless LAN/WAN technologies.
Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

Ensure the uptime, performance, and security of FAA network infrastructure.
Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
Support SD-WAN solutions across distributed environments.
Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode).
Perform fiber testing using OTDR and certification tools.
Monitor systems daily, analyze logs, and respond to incidents.
Troubleshoot network issues across fiber, SD‑WAN, and IP layers, escalating as needed.
Support network cutovers, migrations, and failover validation.
Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration records.
