Sebenza LLC is seeking a motivated Field Technician / Cable Installer to support a critical FAA infrastructure modernization project. The role involves installing, testing, and supporting structured cabling and network infrastructure at FAA facilities across the CONUS.

The position requires extensive travel, the ability to work independently, and strict adherence to safety and security requirements, including FAA suitability and Public Trust eligibility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • 1+ year experience installing structured cabling (CAT5e/CAT6) and RJ45 terminations.
  • Experience installing telecom equipment at customer sites.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide (CONUS) for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Install, mount, and verify network and communications equipment per project specs.

We are currently seeking a motivated and dependable Field Technician / Cable Installer to support a critical Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) infrastructure modernization project.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on technical work, nationwide travel, and contributing to projects that support critical national infrastructure.

Position Summary

The Field Technician / Cable Installer will be responsible for installing, testing, and supporting structured cabling and network infrastructure systems at FAA facilities throughout the continental United States. This role requires extensive travel and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site cable installation, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting based on provided site documentation.
  • Install and terminate structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Install, mount, and verify network and communications equipment according to project requirements.
  • Conduct hardware installation verification and quality assurance checks.
  • Receive, inspect, and document materials delivered to customer locations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and support activities to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Document all installation work, test results, and project activities accurately and completely.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve technical issues and support successful project execution.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and team members.
  • Attend project meetings and required training sessions.
  • Adhere to all customer, company, and site-specific safety and security requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain FAA suitability and Public Trust eligibility before performing work at FAA facilities.
Travel Requirements
  • Extensive travel required (up to 100%) throughout the continental United States (CONUS).
  • Travel schedules may vary based on project needs and customer requirements.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working away from home for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience installing structured cabling systems, including CAT5e and CAT6 cabling utilizing RJ45 terminations.
  • Experience installing electronic or telecommunications equipment at customer sites.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training, vocational education, or an Associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of relevant technical experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform routine technical work with moderate supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust work methods to address field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel nationwide.
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain FAA suitability and Public Trust clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working at FAA facilities.
  • Familiarity with FAA Air Traffic facilities and operational environments.
  • Experience with fiber optic installation and testing.
  • Network infrastructure deployment experience in federal or government environments.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Work Schedule & Project Assignments
  • This position supports a nationwide infrastructure modernization program and work assignments are driven by project schedules and customer requirements.
  • Typical working hours are:
    • Monday through Friday
    • Primarily overnight shifts (approximately 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM)
    • Occasional weekends or extended hours may be required based on site and project needs

Project assignments may vary throughout the year based on deployment schedules and customer requirements. Successful candidates should be flexible and available for travel and project-based work as needed.
