General Dynamics - IT is seeking an experienced F5 Systems Engineer to support government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. You will manage F5 devices, develop requirements, and ensure secure, scalable traffic management for critical infrastructures.

The role requires 7+ years of F5 expertise, TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, and DoD 8570 IAT Level II certifications, plus F5 certifications. On-site, with strong growth and certification opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree or related technical discipline with 10+ years related experience.
• 7+ years of F5 experience with LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, or APM administration and life cycle management.
• Knowledge across storage, virtualization, networking, data center migration and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Manages configuration on multiple physical and virtual F5 devices across data centers.
• Develops and supports customer technical requirements for F5 solutions.
• Plans, designs, implements and operates F5 products such as LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ and APM.
• Documents issues and defines procedures; proposes enhancements for performance and reliability.
• Coordinates equipment orders and upgrades; ensures security of the infrastructure.

Our work depends on an F5 Engineer joining our team to provide secure, expert traffic management leveraging F5 Local Traffic Manager, F5 Global Traffic, Tool Command Language (Tcl), and other advanced capabilities to support and enhance the client’s infrastructure.

HOW A F5 SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Manages the configuration on multiple physical and virtual F5 across multiple data centers

• Participates in the development and support of customer technical requirements

• Plans, designs, develops, implements, and operates F5 products such as LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, and APM

• Provides clear technical documentation and written procedures for issues identified and addressed

• Proposes and implements system enhancements that improves the performance and reliability of the network security infrastructure

• Monitors and troubleshoots platform and OS based problems: network security infrastructure, and connectivity issues

• Performs launch testing for new software releases and the introduction of new features

• Collaborates with different technology towers to achieve common goals

• Applies capacity planning configuration changes as needed

• Addresses performance, scalability, and service architecture administration issues

• Coordinates equipment orders including physical or virtual appliances, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing the systems as needed

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination (10+ yrs) of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
• Experience: 7+ years of relevant F5 experience with F5 LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, and/or APM administration and life cycle management including experience with advanced iRule creation and troubleshooting
• Technical Skills:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of technology towers i.e.: Storage, Virtualization, Intel, Networking, Data Center Migration and Disaster Recovery
  • Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environment
  • Knowledge of risk and controls landscape, ensuring company-wide standards are met
• Security Clearance Level:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
• Certifications Required:
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Must have the F5 Certified Administrator certification or obtain the certification within 3 months of hire date
  • Obtain one targeted F5 module certification (LTM, DNS, ASM, or APM) within an additional 90 days
