Job summary

Pearle Vision, part of EssilorLuxottica, seeks a Part-Time Eyecare Advisor to deliver outstanding patient service in our neighborhood store. You will assist customers with frames and lenses, explain testing processes, and coordinate with the optometrist as needed.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, handling phone inquiries, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records and clean, organized displays. Prior retail or optical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication and listening skills with customers.
• Strong math skills for transactions and pricing.
• Experience with cash registers or point-of-sale systems is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and provide friendly service.
• Answer calls, schedule visits, and assist patients in-store.
• Explain products, services, and paperwork to customers and patients.
• Review prescriptions and patient info, coordinate with optician or management as needed.
• Operate the POS system accurately and handle payments securely.
• Keep displays neat and ensure store cleanliness and safety.

JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL FUNCTION

The Eyecare Advisor creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring all patients receives the highest quality of care. Enthusiastically satisfies patients all the time through exceptional service. Understands and brings to life NECE.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greets customers without delay when they enter the location.
• Promptly answers the telephone in a friendly and courteous manner, taking messages, directing calls appropriately and scheduling patient visits in an efficient manner.
• Determines the reason for the customer's visit; in store explains how to shop at Pearle Vision; in Doctor's office explains all required paperwork, tests, products and services as well as the appropriate time frame.
• Is attentive to details; reviews prescriptions and/or patient information carefully; identifies special needs, consulting with optician, Doctor or Retail Management when necessary.
• Shows patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult customers and patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge of appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operation/procedures.
• Handles and files all patient records in an organized and efficient manner.
• Places contact lens orders, processes shipments and properly submits invoices for payment.
• Operates the POS system terminal inputting customer/patient and prescription information with accuracy and attention to details.
• Accurately operates the POS system, when required, collecting proper payment following company security procedures and retaining proper change for a variety of transactions, such as credit cards, layaways, discounts, insurance and coupons.
• Shows customers where to pick-up their glasses and sign-in upon return to the store.
• Takes pride in the appearance of the store and shows initiative in keeping the displays clean, attractive and organized.
• Informs management of potential safety opportunities (ie. broken tiles, furniture, etc.).
• Complies with all safety/regulatory requirements ensuring supplies/chemicals are stored and used appropriately.

RETAIL

• Demonstrates good product knowledge; takes initiative to accurately describe the features and benefits of various lenses and frames.
• Assists the customer in selecting frames and lenses that are best suited for their lifestyle, prescription and price needs. Suggests improvements and recommends solutions to problems. Reinforces customer's final selection.

DOCTOR'S OFFICE

• Performs all pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail; takes the initiative to explain all measurements and answers any questions the patient may have.
• Utilizes clinical and product knowledge, provides coaching and guidance to patients on the care and handling of contact lenses.
• Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; provides clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Graduate /GED or equivalent experience
• Strong communicator and listener to customers and associates.
• Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Sales skills
• Knowledge of store merchandise
• Familiarity with cash register, computers and calculators

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in customer service, retail or optical
