Job summary

Fermatex in Wall, NJ is seeking an Extrusion Technician to set up, operate, and troubleshoot plastic extrusion equipment for medical components. You will document activities, read drawings, and follow GMP and FDA guidance while coordinating with manufacturing, maintenance, and QA teams.

The role requires a GED/HS diploma or equivalent, basic math and measurement skills, and proficiency with inventory software and MS Office. Safety and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in plastic extrusion, injection molding or related field.
  • Ability to read drawings and process specifications.
  • Comfort with basic math, measurement tools and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Setup/Operate/Troubleshoot production machinery such as Thermoplastic Extruders and line supporting equipment.
  • Document activities accurately and completely.
  • Follow sequences of operations including cleaning, equipment setup, cutting, inspection, and packing.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other measurement devices to inspect parts.
  • Read and understand drawings and process specifications.
  • Work with inks, isopropyl alcohol and other manufacturing liquids safely.
  • Adhere to FDA GMP, safety and company procedures.
  • Read/communicate in English.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: Fermatex - Jersey Shore - Wall, NJ 07727, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $21.00 - $28.00 Hourly

SUMMARY: The primary role of an Extrusion Technician is to setup/operate/troubleshoot equipment using established processes for the manufacture of medical components. This person could work with manufacturing personnel, maintenance, quality assurance and technical teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Setup/Operate/Troubleshoot production machinery such as Thermoplastic Extruders and line supporting equipment.
  • Documenting activities accurately and completely
  • Following sequences of operations in performing techniques such as cleaning, equipment setups, cutting, inspection, and packing.
  • All around use of arithmetic, measuring/inspections with dial or digital devices (calipers, micrometers, toolmaker microscope).
  • Ability to read/understand drawings and process specifications.
  • Working with (and near) inks, isopropyl alcohol, and other manufacturing-related liquids
  • Complying with FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), general safety and manufacturing procedures, and company practices and policies
  • Ability to read, comprehend and communicate in English.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in plastic extrusion, injection molding or related experience.
  • Computer skills required: Inventory Software; Microsoft Office
  • Other skills required: Mechanically inclined, detail oriented, basic math skills
