Job summary

Atterro is seeking an Extrusion Support Lead in Alexandria, MN, offering a 3½-day workweek. You will lead daily production on the Extrusion line, coordinate staffing, monitor workflow, and ensure safety and quality on every shift.

Schedule: Friday – Sunday | 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM and Thursday | 6:30 PM – 12:30 AM

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, technical training, manufacturing coursework, or leadership development training is preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Shipping and receiving experience preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and manufacturing specifications
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong attention to detail for quality inspection and order verification
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and support multiple production areas

Job Duties

  • Support the Extrusion department through packing, material handling, trailer loading, and product aging processes
  • Set up and operate equipment safely and efficiently to maximize output and meet quality standards
  • Read and verify manufacturing orders to ensure internal and customer specifications are met
  • Monitor production processes and make adjustments to packing methods or production rates as needed
  • Load trailers according to customer requirements and specifications
  • Operate cranes and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
  • Receive billets and manage scrap disposal (dumping scrap bins)
  • Move and distribute baskets to and from press lines to support workflow
  • Ensure presses are properly supplied with spacers to maintain production efficiency
  • Perform product inspections prior to aging process
  • Check hardness levels based on alloy and temper requirements
  • Provide general press support as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, team lead, shift lead, or production leadership experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, production metrics, scheduling, or quality systems is beneficial.
  • Experience coordinating with maintenance, quality, warehouse, engineering, or other operational departments is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who are dependable, proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to motivate a diverse production team are well positioned for success as a Extrusion Support Lead.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout production areas for extended periods during the shift.
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout manufacturing or warehouse environments as required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely work around production machinery, material handling equipment, noise, and other conditions common to manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to remain active on the production floor while monitoring employees, equipment, safety, quality, and workflow.

What You Will Do

As a Extrusion Support Lead you will lead daily production operations, assign work, coordinate staffing, monitor workflow, coach employees, and keep the shift moving without cutting corners on safety or quality. You will track production goals and performance, lead pre-shift meetings, troubleshoot operational problems, coordinate with maintenance, quality, warehouse, and leadership teams, maintain production records and shift reports, support employee training, and create a respectful workplace built around teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Extrusion Support Lead helps keep safety and quality from becoming slogans posted on a wall by making them part of how the shift actually operates. This leader reinforces procedures, watches working conditions, addresses unsafe practices, and makes sure production pressure never becomes an excuse for cutting corners.
