Job summary

MX Holdings' Pennex division is seeking a Press Team member to operate and maintain an aluminum extrusion press. You will set up dies, load materials, and monitor production to ensure quality and efficiency, while maintaining equipment and following safety protocols.

The role may evolve to train apprentices and will require the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work a night shift with a differential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in machine operation preferred.
  • Familiarity with operating press machines and reading technical drawings is desired.
  • Previous extrusion press experience or similar manufacturing background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up aluminum extrusion press by installing dies, molds, or tooling and ensure alignment.
  • Load materials into the press and verify quality specifications.
  • Operate the press and monitor production, adjust settings for quality.
  • Inspect products in real time for defects and ensure specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance: cleaning, lubrication and part replacement.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards or issues.
  • Monitor production output and adjust parameters to optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain production records and required paperwork.

Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as the Press Team. The Press Team member plays a crucial role in manufacturing processes by operating and maintaining an aluminum extrusion press to produce a variety of metal products. Members of the Press Team are responsible for setting up machines, monitoring operations, ensuring product quality, and maintaining equipment.

Must be able to work any of the following shifts:

Monday through Thursday: 8pm to 6am

This will eventually transition to 12-hour shifts with alternating weekends.

Shift differential for nights is $1.50 per hour

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup: Prepare and set up an aluminum extrusion press by installing and adjusting dies, molds, or tooling. Ensure proper alignment and functionality of components
  • Material Preparation: Load materials, such as metal billet, into the press machine. Verify that the materials meet quality specifications and are positioned correctly
  • Machine Operation: Operate an aluminum extrusion press to initiate and control the production process. Monitor machine operations, such as feeding materials, adjusting settings, and regulating speed to ensure optimal performance and product quality
  • Quality Control: Inspect in real time for defects, such as irregular shapes, incorrect measurements, or imperfections. Use measuring tools, visual inspections, or automated systems to ensure products meet required specifications
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on an aluminum extrusion press, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn-out or damaged components. Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment. Operate machines in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself and others. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or equipment issues
  • Production Monitoring: Monitor production output and ensure machines are operating efficiently. Adjust machine settings as necessary to optimize production rates and minimize waste
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, downtime, material usage, and any issues encountered during the production process. Complete required paperwork and reports in a timely manner
  • Training: May eventually train the Press Apprentice in duties and responsibilities of the Press Team by communicating and demonstrating the position's processes and procedures
  • Report issues to: Foreman and Lead Person
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional technical or vocational training in machine operation or a related field is preferred

Experience

  • Familiarity with operating press machines, reading technical drawings or instructions, and using measuring tools preferred
  • Previous extrusion press experience or in a similar manufacturing environment preferred
