This position oversees the daily operations of the extrusion process, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.**Scope of Position**The Extrusion Lead provides technical guidance and leadership to extruder operators and serves as a liaison between the team and management. This role requires commitment to teamwork, accountability, and Watts’ values while supporting our mission to protect the world’s most valuable resource: water.This position reports to the Value Stream Leader. This role is onsite and is based in St. Pauls, NC.**Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities*** Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion machines and related equipment.* Lead and coordinate the activities of extrusion operators.* Assign tasks and monitor performance of extruder operators.* Ensure production schedules are met and materials are used efficiently.* Monitor product quality and make adjustments to equipment as needed.* Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on extrusion equipment.* Train new operators and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.* Maintain accurate production records and logs.* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.* Conduct first-piece inspections and ensure product quality.* Maintain a safe and organized work environment.* Conduct and lead daily Gemba walks and meetings to promote continuous improvement and team engagement.* Communicate effectively with supervisors and cross-functional teams.* Fill in for Supervisor as needed, including decision-making and team oversight.**Required Qualifications*** High school diploma or equivalent; or combination of relevant experience and education.* 5+ years of extrusion experience, preferably with pipe.* Strong troubleshooting skills.* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.* Excellent communication and organizational skills.* Proven ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* Understanding and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations and safety practices and procedures.* Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.**Preferred Qualifications*** Technical certification in plastics or manufacturing technology.* Valid forklift certification is preferred.* Prior leadership or team coordination experience.* Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.**General Applicable Company Competencies*** Commitment to Watts’ values of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement and innovation, and transparency.* Punctuality and dependability.* Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities and stressful conditions.* Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures, and standards of process as implemented by Watts.* Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with other Watts employees.* Adherence to Watts’ seven cultural beliefs: Growth Mindset, Customer-Focused Innovation, Constant Communication, Clear Goals, Collaborate Globally, Be Inclusive, and Take Action.**Working Conditions**While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility.
