Job summary

Altium Packaging in Reidsville, NC is seeking an experienced Extrusion Machine Operator to operate extruders, blow mold, grinder and trimmer machines. You will troubleshoot process problems and perform light maintenance to keep the production line running smoothly.

The role requires 3 years as a machine operator, 2 years as an extruder operator preferred, and the ability to read blueprints and use measurement tools. Overtime may be required; a high school diploma is needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate blow-mold/ extrusion machines to produce bottles.

• Adhere to QC and GMP procedures; adjust processes to meet specs.
• Repair or replace pneumatic/hydraulic lines as needed.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and mold changes.
• Document daily reports, rejects and line efficiencies.

Work Shift

12hr-C Shift (United States of America)

Shift: 6:45PM - 7:00AM (12-hour rotating schedule)

Altium Packaging is one of the largest plastic container companies and suppliers of rigid plastic packaging. We specialize in customized mid- and short-run packaging solutions and serve a diverse customer base in the pharmaceutical, dairy, household chemicals, food/nutraceuticals, industrial/specialty chemicals, water, and beverage/juice segments.

Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Extrusion Machine Operator in Reidsville, NC. As a Machine Operator, you will operate extruder, blow mold, grinder and trimmer machines, as well as the conveyor system. You will also troubleshoot process problems and perform minor maintenance to ensure continued operation of the production line.

Responsibilities

• Operate blow-mold machines (including wheels, reciprocating, or shuttle machines) to ensure production of quality bottles
• Perform audits, weights, and quality checks
• Adhere to quality control, blow mold process procedure, and Good Manufacturing Practices
• Make adjustments to meet product specifications
• Repair or replace pneumatic and hydraulic lines
• Assist with preventive maintenance, mold, neck and blow pin, and other mechanical changes
• Grind excess bottles and material
• Troubleshoot and resolve process problems
• Prepare maintenance request forms and document equipment repairs
• Prepare and document daily reports, including rejects, regrinds, and line efficiencies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years' experience as a machine operator
• 2 years' experience as an extruder operator, preferred
• Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery & measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills
• Basic English & Math skills
• Machine troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
• Ability to work overtime
• Physical stamina and strength/able to stand for long periods of time

Training

• Completion of Altium Machine Operator 1 training within 90-days of hire date
• Must be able to train on days, if needed

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
