Job summary

Jaeger-Unitek Sealing Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Extruder Operator to manage plastic stock handling, operate extrusion lines, and perform routine maintenance. You will set up extrusion lines, monitor production, and ensure quality control through testing and run-in of extrusion processes.

Starting pay is $23.77 per hour, first shift 6am–2pm. The role requires lifting up to 55 pounds, reading instructions, and maintaining safety and housekeeping in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform basic math and measurements.
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
• Ability to read instructions and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

SUMMARY:

The Extruder Operator is responsible for plastic stock material handling, extruder and general maintenance, extruder set-up and operation, and finished good testing and running and set up of extrusion lines.

Starting pay for this role is $23.77/hr. First shift hours are 6am-2pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operation of the extrusion lines (plastic) without guidance or assistance
• Material handling of the plastic stock
• Proper release of plastic stock to production
• Set up of extrusion lines and related equipment without guidance or assistance
• Recording of extrusion log sheet
• Daily maintenance of extruders (oil addition, cleaning of the line, etc.)
• Development and maintain extruder set up sheets
• Back up for Line Finisher and Finishing Operator
• Working with supervisors in the development and processing of new parts
• Clean-up and organization of work area
• Compete assigned tasks including set-up of finishing equipment
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, use tools, and perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning and reaching
• Must be able to regularly lift/move 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 55 pounds at a time
• Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and tolerate exposure to moderate noise level, high-heat working conditions, and occasional fumes and airborne particles
• Visual acuity to read instructions, machines, and inspect parts produced
• Requires effective verbal communication and auditory comprehension
