Now hiring for a Extruder Operator
Location: Van Wert, OH
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Education Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Meet daily production targets
  • Change screens every hour
  • Catch and recycle materials from the screen changer, diverter, and vent
  • Skim water holding tanks hourly
  • Keep extruder vent clear at all times
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately
  • Assist feeder operations to maintain a full extruder
  • Properly package pellets using appropriate boxes and skids
  • Clean Gaylord liners and weigh finished product
  • Fill out and apply PRT labels
  • Store finished materials and reprocess overflow as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous machine operation, manufacturing, production, or industrial experience is preferred.
  • Experience performing machine setup, tooling changes, troubleshooting, or preventative maintenance is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, quality systems, or continuous improvement practices is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who demonstrate mechanical ability, reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to quality are well positioned for success as a Extruder Operator.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive production tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift materials, components, or finished products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment while maintaining awareness of moving machinery.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work in a hot environment

What You Will Do

As a Extruder Operator you will operate, monitor, adjust, and maintain manufacturing equipment to produce quality products according to production schedules and established procedures. You will inspect finished products, replenish materials, identify equipment issues, perform routine machine checks, maintain production records, and support safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

Meet production goals daily. Change screens on the hour, every hour. Catch material from the screen changer, diverter and vent & recycle. Skim water holding tanks hourly. Keep extruder vent clear at all times. Fill out all paperwork. Help in the feeder as needed to keep extruder running full. Use best box and skid to package pellets. Clean Gaylord liner. Weigh boxes of finished material. Fill out PRT labels. Put finished material away. Re-run overflow material coming from feed hopper. Keep area clean.

The Extruder Operator supports manufacturing by operating production equipment according to established procedures and quality standards. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced production environments.
