Job summary

Synergy Flavors, part of the Carbery Group, is seeking an Extract and Emulsion Operator II for the 1st shift in our Wauconda, Illinois facility. This role handles extracts and emulsions, monitors equipment, and ensures sanitary practices while moving and processing materials.

You will operate, set up, and troubleshoot process equipment, perform routine maintenance, and complete batch documentation in a fast-paced environment. Strong safety awareness and basic math skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED Required
  • Must have a general knowledge of workplace safety and quality processes including GMP's & Allergens
  • Must follow safety requirements and wear appropriate PPE
  • Experience compounding batches
  • Display basic math skills
  • Problem solve and communicate when something is wrong and to recognize/report the problem
  • Chemical experience is a plus
  • Ability to multitask or handle multiple simultaneous projects and priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in order to be able to communicate with all levels of the organization including technical teams.
  • Ability to manually lift 50 lbs. continuously when necessary
  • Ability to perform shift work as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, and controls processes, i.e. blending, extraction and filtration. Completes appropriate documentation.
  • Operates process and utility equipment in a hygienic and safe manner in accordance with all process procedures, cGMP and HAACP instructions and guidelines. Acts in such a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in the performance of all tasks.
  • Sets up, calibrates, and monitors instruments, i.e. filter press, chiller, and homogenizers.
  • Tears down, cleans and re-assembles equipment, i.e. pumps, filter press, valves, etc. Clean utensils, vessels and lines.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and responds to deviations in process, product, equipment, and performance variations.
  • Performs minor maintenance work on equipment when necessary to ensure continuous operation of process.
  • Completes indicator readings and test results, i.e. specific gravity
  • Lifting of heavy drums and bags and wearing proper PPE
  • Strictly follow detailed instructions to operate equipment
  • Work in a faced paced environment able to multi-task and perform under pressure while remaining flexible.
  • Follow sanitary guidelines for CIP and cleaning
  • Filling out necessary paperwork and batch sheets that accompany mixes compounded

How You Will Contribute

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the Extracts and Emulsions in a flavors manufacturing facility. Extract and Emulsion team members monitor equipment, follow sanitary practices, move, and lift products into tanks, and filter product through presses and homogenizers.

  • Experience compounding batches

Hourly Rate: $20 per hour (more w/ experience)

1st shift: Monday - Friday 5a-1:30p

Department: Operations

Location: Wauconda, Illinois

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Reporting To: Production Supervisor

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
