Job summary

Highgate Hotels at Residence Inn New York World Trade Center seeks a House Attendant to maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas and assist in delivering items to guestrooms and guests. You will contribute to a welcoming environment by performing housekeeping tasks and supporting guest needs in a timely, courteous manner.

The role requires physical stamina to move items and stand during shifts, along with the ability to follow safety procedures and communicate effectively with staff and guests.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Effective communication both verbally and written with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

Responsibilities

  • Buff marble floors daily according to hotel standards.
  • Shampoo carpets in the public areas according to hotel standards.
  • Shampoo furniture as needed.
  • Handle all requests for luggage assistance in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Handle items for "Lost and Found" according to hotel standards.
  • Clean guestrooms as needed.
  • Have knowledge of and assist in all emergency procedures.
  • Maintain hotel equipment in proper working order.
  • Maintain storage of hotel equipment in proper area.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Overview

The House Attendant is responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of all assigned areas and equipment. He/she is also responsible for delivering items to guestrooms (express checkout, newspapers – property specific, etc.).

For Employees Based in Colorado:

  • 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
