Job summary

TEGNA's KSDK 5 On Your Side in St. Louis seeks a photojournalist for vacation-relief shifts, capable of telling compelling stories on digital and broadcast platforms.

The role requires strong editing skills, live reporting, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. You should have a college degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of two years in TV photojournalism and news editing.

• College degree or equivalent experience with minimum two years’ experience as a TV photojournalist and news editor preferred.
• Must be able to master editing on Edius non-linear editing system.
• Complete newsgathering skills required.
• Must be able to tell the news story creatively with strong audio and visual skills.
• Must be able to make quick decisions while working under pressured deadlines, willingness to work overtime, and work flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Capture video and audio to produce compelling news, sports, and feature stories under deadlines.
• Edit stories with Edius or other platforms.
• Provide editorial input and collaboration for stories and daily newscasts.
• Operate ENG van and live remote equipment.
• Familiarity with distribution platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Internet, etc.
• Post to social media, edit social videos, and create digital content.

KSDK 5 On Your Side, TEGNA's NBC affiliate in St. Louis, is looking for a Photojournalist who is passionate about the craft and thrives on great storytelling on both digital and broadcast platforms.

The candidate hired for this vacation-relief position will work a variety of schedules based on vacation and time off requests from our videography staff.

We are recruiting a journalist who can tell great stories independently or with a team. Our ideal candidate is familiar with the latest photography, editing tools and techniques. Our hire acts with urgency in breaking news situations and is able to participate in live performance on air and on live streaming when necessary. Ability to work a flexible schedule is highly desirable.
