Description: Custodian Night - Bus Driver
Beatty Elementary/ Middle School
10.0 hours per day, 4 days per week, 12 months per year
Funding Source: General Fund
Salary Range: $18.68 to $21.35 per hour

Job Goal

To provide safe and efficient transportation for District students. Under general direction, performs custodial functions required to maintain the assigned site buildings in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition; arrange and maintain the physical environment required for activities held at the site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follow district procedures and training to ensure facility cleanliness, including:
   1. Floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting
      1. Cleaning: sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming
      2. Shampooing carpets, performing periodic spot cleaning, and deep cleaning
      3. Stripping, waxing, sealing, and buffing: using floor machines to prepare and finish multiple types of surfaces such as VCT, HVT, tile, concrete, wood, and carpet
   2. Clean, disinfect, and polish all plumbing fixtures—including faucets, sinks, bathtubs, showers, drinking fountains, and toilets
   3. Remove spots and graffiti from floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, carpets, and fixtures
   4. Perform basic cleaning and sanitizing of furniture, walls, windows and window coverings, whiteboards, electronics, high‑touch areas, counters, lighting, etc.
   5. Maintain, clean, and organize storage and equipment areas
2. Operate all equipment with care and in accordance with facility and manufacturer safety standards and procedures; clean and perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment and submit work orders as needed
3. Ensure cleaning agents are used per label instructions and prescribed safety precautions
4. Collaborate in ordering supplies and maintenance repairs with the day custodian
5. Coordinate with administration regarding the use of school facilities for various activities
6. Conduct light maintenance and repairs such as ceiling tile replacement, light bulb replacement, landscaping, and furniture repairs
7. Ensure all appropriate health precautions are taken to maintain safety for students, employees, custodians, and visitors
8. Follow the NCSD single‑point entry protocol; ensure all gates, doors, rooms, and buildings are secure during and after the school day
9. Perform security checks of the interior and exterior of the facility to ensure all doors and gates are locked and secured before vacating the building
10. Contact the supervisor and MOSS for concerns requiring immediate assistance and submit detailed work orders for district maintenance staff assistance
11. May be required to move, assemble, or disassemble furniture, equipment, or other items
12. Assist district Maintenance, Operations, Safety, and Security Department or other departments in an emergency or as needed
13. Obey all traffic laws
14. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
15. Maintain student discipline on the bus
16. Keep the assigned bus clean, including all vision mirrors, windows, and the interior of the bus
17. Adhere to assigned route, stops, and schedule as determined by the immediate supervisor
18. Report all accidents and complete the required reports
19. Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or safety problems
20. Exercise responsible leadership when on out‑of‑District school trips
21. Transport only authorized students and District employees
22. Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip safety inspections of assigned bus
23. Enforce District bus safety rules
24. Perform other related duties and functions as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Training, and Experience

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Current physical examination as required by CDL
3. Completion of District/State training course

Licenses and Certifications

1. Valid Nevada Commercial Driver License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements

Screening and Compliance

1. Ability to pass State and Federal criminal background check
2. Compliance with NCSD Motor Carrier Part 382 Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program

Successful candidate must complete a thorough background check and pass mandatory pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing.
