Job summary

Peraton is seeking an Automation Test Engineer in Herndon, VA to join the DOS CS Modernization program. You’ll develop automated test scripts (Selenium/Playwright/Cypress), contribute to Agile development, and help ensure high-quality software delivery on a government-facing program.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, strong testing skills across functional, environmental, and performance areas, and programming in Java, Python, or JavaScript.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience.
• Experience in functional, environmental, operational, and performance testing.
• Ability to program in text-based and object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
• Exposure to software engineering principles and basic test automation concepts.
• Experience in an Agile testing environment including Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain an Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create, execute, and maintain automated tests using frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is in Herndon, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Diplomatic Technology (DT).

This role requires excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a large, diverse program. As part of the Automation Testing Team, you will build and execute automated test scripts, contribute to Agile development efforts and help ensure high-quality software delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work within an Agile Team to plan and develop automated test scripts to support the integration testing requirements of the teams you support.
• Create, execute, and maintain automated tests using modern frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools.
• Generate technical engineering products using appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools.
• Maintain a Kanban board with tasks and report out the status of your work during scheduled standup meetings.
• Collaborate with developers and testers to validate APIs, web services, and system integrations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience.
• Good knowledge of functional, environmental, operational, and performance testing.
• Problem-solving skills to isolate and document issues and defects.
• Interest and ability to program in text-based languages and object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
• Exposure to software engineering principles and basic test automation concepts.
• Experience in an agile testing environment including Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain or have an Active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearances acceptable

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with using AI-assisted development or testing tools.
• Experience developing automated test scripts using Java or other programming languages.
• Experience with Selenium WebDriver and Gauge a plus.
• Experience writing SQL scripts for Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
