Job description

Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer – External Events provides on‑site medical coverage for non‑athletic external events hosted within UNF Athletics facilities. This position ensures participant safety, injury evaluation, emergency response, and medical oversight during camps, tournaments, community events, corporate functions, and other facility rentals.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide on‑site athletic training services for external events
  • Evaluate and treat acute injuries and medical conditions
  • Administer first aid and emergency care as needed
  • Coordinate EMS activation when necessary
  • Document injuries and care provided during events
  • Verify medical supplies and equipment are stocked and available
  • Maintain AED readiness and emergency equipment accessibility
Required Qualifications
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC)
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • Strong emergency response and clinical decision‑making skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
Work Schedule

Event‑based scheduling. Hours vary depending on event duration and complexity.

This position requires a background check and may also require a credit check. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under TitleIX and must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s TitleIX Administrator or any divisional TitleIX Coordinator. The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.
