Job summary

Arizona Generation and Transmission Cooperatives seeks an External Affairs and Member Engagement Specialist to lead member outreach, communications, and event planning. You will build relationships with members and stakeholders, share information on energy services, and drive engagement programs.

You will coordinate surveys, collect feedback, monitor social media, and produce reports to support strategic goals. Travel and evening/weekend work are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, political science, public relations, or related field.
• Four+ years of applicable experience.
• Strong command of public relations best practices for corporations and not-for-profit organizations, including social media.
• Proficient at public speaking and representing the cooperatives at community and member events.
• Familiarity with event planning and promotion.
• Experience with video recording, photography and editing preferred.
• Ability to work with others across departments and functions.
• Ability to communicate relevant subject matter to various community and member audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Ability to think strategically and make independent decisions.
• Any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience can be substituted for requirements listed above.

Responsibilities

• Attend community and cooperative functions, with occasional evening and weekend work and travel throughout the year.
• Serve as liaison between the cooperatives and stakeholders (schools, chambers, economic development groups, etc.).
• Manage communications content for publication (newsletters, magazines, website, annual reports, social media).
• Plan and execute programs and events for cooperatives and external groups.
• Monitor government actions impacting operations and attend meetings when needed.
• Assist in managing donations and sponsorship programs within budget parameters.
• Provide expertise to statewide associations and utilities as needed.
• Work with Director on strategy development, donations, sponsorships, and website/public presence.

You'll also collaborate with team members on projects that promote community involvement and advocacy for sustainable energy practices. Monitoring social media and other communication channels will be essential to ensure timely responses and maintain strong member relationships. Additionally, you will prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management, contributing to the overall strategic goals of Arizona G&T Cooperatives.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Essential Functions

• Attend community and cooperative functions, with occasional evening and weekend work and in-state and out-of-state travel required throughout the year.
• Serve as the liaison between the cooperatives and stakeholders, such as local schools, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, trade associations, county fair boards, etc.
• Manage communications activities including development, coordination and production of content for publication, including newsletters, member cooperative magazines, public website, annual reports and social media.
• Plan and execute programs and events for the cooperatives, member cooperatives and external groups.
• Monitor state and local government action which may impact cooperative operations, project development, etc. and attend meetings of state and local government entities as needed.
• Assist in managing annual donations and sponsorship programs, including maintaining a database of recipients, processing requests within budget parameters, communicating with applicants, and distributing funds on behalf of the cooperatives when requested.
• Provide expertise and assistance to statewide association and member cooperatives and utilities as needed.
• Work with Director of Communications and Member Services on strategy development and execution for cooperative community engagement; managing donations, sponsorships, and advertising spend in consultation with the executive management team; and on-going development of the cooperative website and public presence.
