Job summary

St. Columban Catholic School in Garden Grove, part of the Diocese of Orange, seeks an experienced Extended Care Aide for the 2026-2027 school year.

The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm–6:00 pm, to support students after school under the guidance of the Principal. Responsibilities include preparing craft materials, supervising students in the classroom and on the playground, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Practicing Roman Catholic with a strong commitment to the faith is preferred.
• Experience in a school setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, reliability, patience, and flexibility are required.

Pay Range: $17 - $18 hourly

Summary:

St. Columban Catholic School, a Preschool - 8th grade Diocesan school in Garden Grove, is seeking experienced and faith-filled Extended Care Aide. This position will support students after school while working under the guidance of the Principal and support the school's mission and philosophy as a member of a vibrant Catholic school community. The position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Because all St. Columban Catholic School employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

Job Duties

• Assist with student supervision in classroom and on playground.
• Additional duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Practicing Roman Catholic with a strong commitment to and a working knowledge of the Catholic faith is preferred.
• Experience in a school setting preferred.
• Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills, reliability, patience, understanding, flexibility, multi-tasking team player.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BA/BS Degree preferred but not required.
• Early Childhood Education units preferred but not required.
• Previous classroom experience supporting instruction and student learning.

Work Conditions

• The position primarily involves work on school premises and in a classroom setting, requiring frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, AV, telephones, printers.
• Occasional evening work may be required to support department programs, operational needs, or campus events.
• Must be available to adjust the work schedule as needed to meet organizational deadlines, operational demands, ministry activities or special projects.
• Regular interaction with students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a professional and faith-based environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing administrative and computer-based tasks.
• Frequent walking, standing, and movement around the school or office facilities to support programs and operational needs.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, such as materials, supplies, and event equipment.
• Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment, preparing materials, and managing paperwork.
• Visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and visitors in person, via email, and by phone.
• Must be able to set up and dismantle chairs, tables, and other equipment required for meetings, programs, or campus activities as needed.
