Job summary

Summa Health is seeking an Express Transporter/Dispatcher I for the Service Response Center at Akron City Campus. The role moves patients between rooms and hospital locations, ensuring safety and comfort, with friendly companionship.

The position is PRN as needed with hourly pay of $15.96–$19.16 and a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates should have good stamina, time-management skills, and be able to read and write English, perform basic math, and use a handheld iPhone device.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Summary: The primary responsibility is to move patients from their rooms to various locations within the hospital. During the transport, the employee should ensure that the patient is safe, comfortable and provide them with friendly companionship. To be successful in this role, the candidate should have good physical stamina and have excellent time-management skills. They must follow patient transport directions on a hand held device that is assigned and used during the shift, and communicate with patients in a positive, uplifting manner to improve patient experience during transport.

• Formal Education Required: Ability to read and write English and perform basic math.
• Experience & Training Required: Healthcare related experience helpful but not required.
• Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: Experience using a handheld iPhone type phone. This device will give instruction about the patient transport. Have customer service and excellent interpersonal skills. Have computer skills to complete mandatory training.

• Level of Physical Demands:
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push/pull all modes of patient transport equipment.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds for moving and lifting patients required.
• Possible exposure to hazardous materials.
• Required to undergo a physical ability test as a condition of employment by Employee Health.
