Job summary

Nike Inc. is seeking a passionate Footwear Designer with deep knowledge of Performance and Lifestyle footwear. You will lead design projects from ideation to tech pack, mentor teammates, and collaborate with internal partners to test new digital tools.

The role requires a strong aesthetic, problem-solving mindset, and fluency in 3D and AI tools. Expect collaboration with a fast-moving multidisciplinary team reporting to the VP of Footwear Design Excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in industrial design or related field.
• 8+ years designing footwear and related products.
• Knowledge of form, color, materials and human factors to elevate consumer experience.
• Translate consumer insights into product solutions and narratives.
• Strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills.
• Strong sketching, rendering and visualization capabilities.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Ability to generate a broad range of concepts per project.
• Sustainable design and manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with presentation tools: Keynote, PowerPoint, Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Lead sketch ideation, concept visualization and presentation through to tech pack revisions.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to test and evaluate new digital design tools.
• Mentor other designers on Nike's new and innovative processes.
• Work on performance, lifestyle and innovation footwear across categories.
• Support interview accommodations and accessibility initiatives as needed.

You'll be working with a fast-moving multidisciplinary team of experienced Footwear designers, Computational designers, and Innovation designers. focused on industry-leading innovative footwear. This team reports directly to the VP of Footwear Design Excellence.

We are looking for a passionate footwear designer who is highly creative, has a strong aesthetic, is a problem solver, has a deep knowledge of Performance and Lifestyle footwear, and is fluent in 3D and AI digital tools. This team collaborates with a wide range of Nike teams, so a positive outlook and strong relationships are essential.

WHAT YOU BRING

Design Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in industrial design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
• 8 yrs experience designing and developing innovative footwear and other products
• Knowledge of form, color, materials, human factors, related to elevating the consumer experience
• Ability to translate consumer knowledge and insights into product solutions and narratives
• Strong Photoshop, Illustrator skills
• Strong sketching, illustration, visualization and rendering skills
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
• Must be able to generate a broad range of concepts and solutions for each project
• Knowledge and experience with sustainable design and manufacturing are a plus
• Experienced with presentation programs: Keynote, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Fluent in 3D tools like Blender, Gravity Sketch, Fusion 360 or Rhino
• Fluent in AI tools like Vizcom, Blender, Runway or Sora
• Fluent in tools like Illustrator, Photoshop and Keynote
• 3D printing and prototyping skills are a plus

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

You’ll work on a wide range of footwear projects covering all categories of performance, lifestyle and innovation, this will also span "high-volume" projects to "one-off" inspirational concepts. You will lead projects from sketch ideation, concept visualization, presentation through to tech pack and revisions. You will also be working directly with our internal and external partners to test, evaluate and recommend new digital design tools. You will also need to mentor other designers across Nike on our new and innovative process.
