PG&E is seeking an experienced professional in a hybrid role to advance risk-informed decision making for transmission, distribution, and generation assets. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Financial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in analytical methods and modeling.
  • Master's Degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Financial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop risk metrics, PoF methodologies, and scenario analyses to quantify asset risk and support risk-informed decision making.
  • Develop statistical, probabilistic, and machine learning models for asset condition assessment, degradation analysis, PoF estimation, and risk quantification.
  • Implement tools and processes to improve the quality, consistency, and timeliness of asset risk analyses, model outputs, and reporting.
  • Design analytical and diagnostic tools to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable computation of risk metrics and support asset health and reliability assessments.
  • Work with data governance, controls, and technology teams to streamline risk-modeling processes, eliminate manual steps, and ensure reliable model execution and data quality.
  • Diagnose model, metric, or process issues and make recommendations for remediation and continuous improvement.
  • Perform reviews of models developed by other coworkers and teams to ensure technical rigor, defensibility, transparency, and adherence to model governance standards.
  • Perform stress testing, sensitivity analyses, and scenario assessments to evaluate the impact of environmental, operational, and asset condition factors on infrastructure reliability and risk.
  • Assess and report on the performance, effectiveness, and predictive accuracy of risk models and analytical methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain PoF models for transmission, distribution, and other utility assets using asset condition, inspection, operational, environmental, and historical performance data.
  • Quantify uncertainty in model outputs and communicate asset risk insights, failure drivers, and model results to asset management, engineering, and operational stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Applied Technology Services (ATS) staffprovidesadvanced analytical, modeling, testing, and risk assessment services across multiple disciplines to support company organizations in identifying, quantifying, and addressing complex operational and asset-related risks. The team develops and applies statistical, probabilistic, and machine learning-based approaches to evaluate system performance, asset condition, degradation trends, and probability of failure, enabling data-driven decision making for reliability, resilience, and lifecycle management.

Staff integrate and analyze diverse data sources to develop predictive models, risk metrics, and analytical tools that support asset strategy, maintenance planning, investment prioritization, and operational decision making. Services include asset health assessments, reliability and risk evaluations, failure investigations, scenario analyses, and development of quantitative methodologies for complex infrastructure systems, including transmission and distribution assets, distributed energy resources, and generation facilities.

The team provides technical consultation and analytical insights to internal clients, helping organizations proactively manage risk and improve asset performance through the application of advanced modeling techniques, data analytics, and industry best practices. Staff collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to develop analytical solutions, support project proposals, and communicate complex model results and risk insights to decision makers. Incumbents maintain knowledge of and adhere to all company and regulatory safety, quality, and governance requirements.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

The selected candidate must live within PG&E's service territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $122,000.00

Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $158,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $194,000.00

Qualifications

  • Utility or Energy Industry experience
  • Proven Excel and VBA or Matlab.
