Job summary

IBM Quantum is seeking an Experimental Research Scientist to push the frontiers of quantum hardware. You will develop first-of-a-kind demonstrations and run experiments that extend IBM’s quantum processors’ capabilities.

You’ll collaborate with theorists, experimentalists, and software engineers to craft groundbreaking, advantage-scale experiments while applying advanced techniques such as error mitigation and quantum control. A Doctorate is preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD or Doctorate in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years of experimental quantum computing research.
• Proficiency in Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement novel quantum hardware demonstrations.
• Collaborate with theorists, experimental physicists, and software engineers to design experiments.
• Leverage techniques such as error mitigation and quantum control to push hardware performance.
• Contribute to the advancement of the quantum computing stack for usability and robustness.
• Engage in an active R&D environment and communicate results effectively.
