Job summary

UNT Dallas College of Law seeks experienced lawyers, judges, and law school instructors for a Professor of Practice position. This year-round faculty role supports the Experiential Education department by developing and delivering experiential courses within the JD curriculum.

The role includes academic instruction, supervision of clinics and externships, and collaboration on community engagement projects across the law school and university initiatives.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required and superb academic/professional qualifications.
• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• Practice experience sufficient for teaching in the College of Law.
• Ability to teach and mentor students effectively.
• Commitment to the goals of the College of Law and its instructional methods.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in experiential placements (externships/clinics) to provide high-quality instruction and client representation.
• Lead classroom discussions to teach skills, professionalism, and values.
• Assign and grade student work; provide feedback on legal research, writing, and argumentation.
• Participate in planning and management of student volunteer programming and CEP projects.
• Attend faculty meetings and collaborate with colleagues on university initiatives.
