Job summary

Valmont is seeking an experienced Welder to join our manufacturing team in Valley, Nebraska. You will weld metal components to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using a range of arc and gas welding equipment and brazing techniques.

You will routinely weld structural components for steel electrical poles and substations, read blueprints, and plan operation sequences while maintaining safe, efficient shop practices.

Qualifications

• Two years of welding experience in a professional environment.
• Ability to pass welding hand-on test and written assessment.
• Ability to pass and maintain AWS and CWB welding certifications.

Responsibilities

• Weld metal components to fabricates/repairs per layouts and blueprints.
• Weld structural components for poles, substations, and related structures using arc welding.
• Plan operation sequence from blueprints and specifications.
• Maintain and operate welding equipment and related tooling safely.
• May operate other machines in the shop.

Compensation

$28.13/hour ($26.13/hour+$2.00 Shift Differential)

Available Shifts

• 2nd shift, Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
• 3rd shift, Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
• 3rd shift Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
• Weekend Shift: Friday - Sunday, 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Fuse or weld metal structural components together by means of arc welding in the fabrication of steel electrical poles, substations, and other structures

Perform welding operations requiring a limited amount of planning of work from blueprints or other written specifications and determining operation sequence

Maintain and operate production tooling and fixtures as well all welding equipment in a safe and secure manner

May be called upon to operate other machines in the shop

Required Qualifications

• Two years of previous hands-on welding experience in a professional environment
• The ability to pass welding hand-on test and written assessment
• The ability to pass and maintain weld certification to meet AWS, CWB and several other customer certifications in GMAW welding
• The ability to read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance and use them to properly weld scheduled work
• Knowledge of visual weld quality, penetration and appearance for finished shafts
• Knowledge of how to accurately read a measuring tape

Highly Qualified

• 3+ year of previous hands-on welding experience in a professional environment
• Two years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification from a recognized school
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
• The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
