Dr. Sam”s Veterinary House Calls is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician for a full-time role with in-clinic and traveling duties in Allentown, PA. The position focuses on anesthesia, patient care, and hands-on nursing across clinic visits and house calls.

The ideal candidate will monitor anesthesia, assist with surgeries, draw blood, maintain records, and communicate clearly with clients and teammates. Competitive pay and a supportive team are offered.

  • Is confident with anesthetic protocols, induction, intubation, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Can recognize changes in a patient’s condition and respond quickly.
  • Is comfortable placing IV catheters, drawing blood, administering medications, and monitoring patients.
  • Has excellent technical, nursing, and patient-care skills.
  • Works well independently and as part of a veterinary team.
  • Is organized, dependable, calm under pressure, and detail-oriented.
  • Has a positive attitude and genuinely cares about patients and their owners.
  • Enjoys variety and assists veterinarians with in-clinic appointments and house calls.
  • Has excellent communication and client-service skills.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, safe, and efficient clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional nursing and patient care.
  • Preparing patients for medical procedures and surgery.
  • Monitoring anesthesia before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assisting veterinarians with surgical and medical procedures; placing IV catheters and managing fluid therapy.
  • Administering medications and treatments.
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitoring patients throughout recovery.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
  • Preparing, cleaning, and maintaining surgical and anesthesia equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Assisting our traveling veterinarian with house calls as needed.
  • Building trusting relationships with clients and their pets.
  • Providing clear and compassionate client education.
