Job summary

Snyder & Associates, Inc. seeks an Experienced Structural Engineer to join our vertical structures team in Des Moines, IA. You will lead design and analysis for bridges and buildings, mentor junior staff, and guide projects from planning through construction, with a focus on quality and client relationships.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree and 5+ years of U.S. experience; a PE license is preferred (or achievable in Iowa).

We're looking for an Experienced Structural Engineer to join our vertical structures team. This role is ideal for an engineer who brings solid technical expertise, proven project management capabilities, and a collaborative approach to guiding multidisciplinary teams. You’ll shape project strategy from early planning through construction, mentor emerging professionals, and build trusted client relationships that reflect our long‑standing reputation for service, quality, and community impact.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • 5+ years of experience in design and construction oversight of vertical structure projects in the U.S.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain in Iowa)
  • Demonstrated progressive responsibility and technical growth
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and deliver projects on scope, budget, and schedule
