Pape’ Kenworth in Fairbanks, AK is seeking an Experienced Truck Technician to maintain and repair medium and heavy-duty Class 7 and 8 trucks. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, rebuild components, and ensure uptime for customers while thriving in a shop that supports growth and training.

Candidates should have 2+ years of relevant experience, a diesel tech degree or strong aptitude, and be able to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience maintaining medium/heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks with engine repair and electrical troubleshooting.
• Diesel tech degree or strong mechanical aptitude accepted.
• Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge; Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Must provide own tools.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair medium/heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks to high standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As our Experienced Truck Technician / Mechanic, you’ll take on the challenge of maintaining and repairing medium and heavy-duty Class 7 & 8 trucks, ensuring every job is completed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will directly support our customers’ success by keeping their trucks running smoothly and maximizing uptime.

Each day, you’ll diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, identifying the best solutions to restore each truck to peak performance. Your work may include repairing or rebuilding major components such as cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems.

Each day, you’ll have the opportunity to continue improving your skills while working alongside other highly trained technicians in a fully equipped shop. With the right tools, training, and support at your disposal, you’ll perform top-quality work that makes a real impact.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 2 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair. Will also accept candidates with a Diesel tech degree and a mechanical aptitude/background.
• Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge. Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Self-motivation and assertiveness.
• Ability to work under little or no supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Must provide own tools.

Compensation:

$33.80-38.15/hr (Depending on Experience)
