H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns, interview clients, and provide personalized tax guidance at a local office in Emporia, Kansas. You'll leverage our training and technology to uncover savings opportunities and deliver empathetic, consultative service.

This in-person role requires at least 1 year of tax experience, strong communication, and readiness to meet IRS/state requirements.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements.

This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, bookkeeping
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential
• Experience completing complex returns, tax planning, audit support, or tax notice resolution
• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software
• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
• Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
