Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare complex tax returns and provide personalized guidance to clients. You will interview clients, identify tax savings opportunities, and recommend relevant H&R Block products, with training and tools to support your practice.

You will work in-person at a local H&R Block tax office, collaborating with teammates to deliver empathetic, consultative service and maintain a high-performing client experience.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including explaining tax concepts to clients.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA credentials preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment1
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, bookkeeping
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential
• Experience completing complex returns, tax planning, audit support, or tax notice resolution
• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software
• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
• Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
