Job summary

H&R Block is hiring a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional in Nashville, TN to prepare complete and accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses, conduct in-depth client interviews, and provide personalized recommendations. You will build trusted client relationships and deliver empathetic service, identifying tax savings opportunities and offering H&R Block products.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax prep or related field
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain tax concepts
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment1


• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns


• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language


• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements


• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field


• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, bookkeeping


• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential


• Experience completing complex returns, tax planning, audit support, or tax notice resolution


• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software


• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)


• Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
