Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science is required.
  • 3–5 years of experience managing engineering projects and/or in technical sales.
  • Experience with custom-build, low-volume production fabrication or rail/mining/logistics exposure is preferred.
  • Comfortable serving as the primary technical contact for external customers.
  • Willingness to expand into new technical areas and work in a team environment.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; US work authorization required.

  • Translate customer requirements into verifiable system architectures and specifications.
  • Develop pre-project documents, charters, PM plans, and milestone schedules.
  • Prepare customer-specific case studies from routes, volumes, and operational profiles.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as primary technical contact for active customer accounts and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and design teams to feed voice-of-customer into product development.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and report progress to leadership.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Experienced Project Engineer to serve as a technical point of contact for customers across our core rail, mining, steel mill, and logistics accounts. This role combines a strong engineering background with project execution and technical-sales experience — the successful candidate will manage active customer accounts, translate customer requirements into project charters and technical specifications, and represent the voice of the customer back to internal engineering and design teams. This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You\'ll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and engage in occasional domestic travel (up to 50%) for customer site visits, demonstrations, and project reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Management: Translate customer logistical and interface requirements into verifiable system architectures and technical specifications.
  • Project Execution: Develop pre-project approval documents, including project charters, project management plans, and milestone schedules.
  • Case Studies: Prepare customer-specific case studies derived from routes, volumes, and operational profiles.
  • Risk Management: Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Technical Support: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for one or more active customer accounts; establish rapport and acceptance with customer stakeholders and operators.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal engineering and design teams, communicating voice-of-customer feedback into product development.
  • Operational Reporting: Conduct regular project status meetings; report progress to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $90,000–$115,000 plus equity

About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • At least a Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science.
  • 3–5 years of experience managing engineering projects and/or in technical sales.
  • Direct experience in either custom-build, low-volume production fabrication (helping run or directly support a build-to-order shop through first-article builds and production ramp, including engineering changes flowing into an active build line) or working directly in or with rail, mining, steel mills, or logistics (operator, freight, or OEM side).
  • Comfortable serving as a primary technical point of contact for external customers.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise and develop innovative and novel approaches.
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as an individual contributor.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; Intramotev will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • Experience in rail, mining, steel, logistics, or electric vehicles specifically, as opposed to adjacent industrial sectors.
  • Prior technical sales experience layered on top of a fabrication or customer-industry background.
  • Demonstrated experience on cross-functional, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience in Agile environments for hardware and software development.
Typical Education And Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 3 or more years\' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master + 1 years\' related work experience).
