Milpitas Police Department seeks a lateral police officer for a full-time position. A lateral incentive program begins in January 2025, offering credit for prior public service and a one-time up to 160 hours of leave bank, subject to eligibility.

California POST certification and a valid driver's license are required. Officers patrol, respond to calls, make arrests, conduct investigations, prepare reports, and coordinate with other agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer is required.
• Completion of sixty semester units or ninety quarter units in police science or related field.
• Current California POST Basic Certificate and valid driver's license required.

Responsabilités

• Patrol the city in radio-equipped vehicle, answer calls, enforce laws, and investigate incidents.
• Respond on motorcycles or radar units, manage traffic and emergencies.
• Make arrests, interview victims and suspects, gather and preserve evidence.
• Prepare reports of arrests and activities; cooperate with other agencies.
• Direct traffic at events; maintain public relations and safety.
• Assist in special investigative and crime prevention duties.
