Job summary

Hecla Mining Company seeks an Experienced Miner to operate drills, loaders, and haul trucks safely and efficiently on mining sites across Alaska. The role includes living on a remote island in a mining camp for a 20 days on/10 days off schedule, with travel as needed for operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain mining equipment such as drills, loaders, and haul trucks to extract minerals safely and efficiently.
  • Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home if you are not Juneau based. This role will be operate on a 20 days on/10 days off schedule.
  • Conduct regular inspections of mining sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of mining operations, including drilling, blasting, and material transport.
  • Monitor and report on mining progress, equipment performance, and any operational issues to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with safety officers to implement and follow strict safety protocols to protect personnel and the environment.
  • Participate in training sessions and safety drills to stay current with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of mining activities, equipment maintenance, and incident reports.
