Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an engineer or data scientist to join a team focused on establishing and maintaining world-class inspection and measurement equipment. The role emphasizes yield enhancement, complex problem solving, and data-driven decision making.

You will analyze FDC trends, monitor fabrication equipment, qualify new tools, and drive process improvements while communicating findings and updating SOPs.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related field.
• 2+ years semiconductor experience (Metrology equipment preferred).
• Experience troubleshooting equipment or process failures.
• Exposure to structured problem solving (8D, 7-step).
• Understanding of statistical methods.
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage FDC trend analysis for the department using statistics and data science.
• Monitor wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues.
• Qualify new manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate equipment qualifications and downtime with manufacturing.
• Analyze data to identify trends and inform processing decisions.
• Adjust parameters when needed and monitor tools after maintenance.
• Implement in-line changes to processes or equipment.
• Communicate technical info through presentations and SOP updates.
• Develop improved processes to increase capability.
• Monitor operations costs and drive cost-reduction projects.

Position Summary

Seeking a motivated engineer or data scientist interested in working alongside a talented team of professionals with a key focus on establishing and maintaining world class inspection and measurement equipment, implementing yield enhancement as a competitive advantage along with ability to identify complex problems and implement solutions.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Manage FDC trend analysis for the department, utilizing statistics and data science
• Monitor the wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues
• Qualify new manufacturing equipment
• Coordinate the scheduling of equipment qualifications and equipment down time with manufacturing
• Use software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product.
• Make adjustments when equipment parameters are exceeded and monitors process parameters when tools return from maintenance.
• Execute in line changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.
• Communicate technical information within the department through presentations.
• Continuously revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Develop improved processes to increase capability.
• Monitor operations costs and develop cost reduction projects

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science
• 2+ years semiconductor experience (Metrology equipment experience preferred)
• Experience Troubleshooting Equipment or Process failures
• Exposure to Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc.)
• Understanding of statistical methods
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language preferred
• Experience with Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.) preferred
• Good Presentation and Technical Writing skills
• Understanding of Change Point Management, and of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles
• Ability to wear clean room suit and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per the SAS FAB protocol and be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.

This position may include access to controlled information or technology under U.S. export control laws.
