Job summary

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, is seeking an Advanced Assembler in Wisconsin. You will perform skilled assembly on complex components for fire apparatus and support the production of highly customized vehicles.

  • Perform mechanical and component assembly using blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Assemble, install, align, and adjust parts and subassemblies to spec.
  • Use hand, pneumatic and power tools, and precision measuring equipment.

Shift Overview

1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days. Overtime may be scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays.

2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days, plus a $2.00/hour shift premium. Overtime may be scheduled at the end of the shift and on Fridays and Saturdays.

Specific shift times and overtime requirements vary by position, department, and location.

What You’ll Do

As an Advanced Assembler, you’ll perform skilled assembly work on complex components and systems used in the manufacturing of Pierce fire apparatus.

Your Responsibilities May Include
  • Perform complex mechanical and component assembly using established specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Independently read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work orders
  • Assemble, install, align, and adjust parts, components, and subassemblies
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring equipment
  • Perform drilling, sanding, grinding, buffing, fastening, clamping, gluing, and other assembly processes
  • Measure components and verify proper fit, alignment, and installation
  • Identify assembly issues and perform basic troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets established quality and workmanship standards
  • Recognize incorrect, damaged, or nonconforming parts and elevate concerns appropriately
  • Safely operate cranes, hoists, and other equipment used to position components
  • Follow established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, engineering, materials, and other team members to resolve issues
  • Share technical knowledge and assist less-experienced team members as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Complete required production documentation, work orders, and checklists
  • Work scheduled hours, maintain reliable attendance, and work overtime when required

  • Access digital blueprints, specifications, and work instructions

  • Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment
  • Assist with training and onboarding team members
  • Support other production areas based on business needs
